And so the story goes

The choir was founded in 1980 in the small village of Tonmawr resulting from a conversation at the local rugby club. A new community centre was being built and what better to occupy its hall than a male voice choir.

Being based in a small village, a factor which is of particular importance is the friendliness which exists between members. Indeed everyone knows everyone else and the choir is well known for its buoyant social life and afterglows.

Testimony to this is illustrated by the fact that some members travel over fifty miles to attend practice evenings. We have a relatively young musical team and have lately attracted several younger choristers to the choir.

Prestigious Events

The choir has performed at many prestigious venues both home and abroad. Whilst on our last visit to Spain the choir was invited to sing in the Marian Devotion in the Basilica at Montserrat.

We have been informed that we are the only Male Voice Choir to have been invited to participate in this event - of this we are very proud.

Some Famous Names

We've had a long involvement with Katherine Jenkins who is an honorary patron of the choir. Some years ago, Katherine was a prize winner and recipient of the Richard Harris Memorial Fund which is run by the choir to assist young talented musicians.

The choir has recently participated in two celebrity events. A homecoming concert for the Hollywood star and choir patron Michael Sheen. We were also the choir chosen to sing at the 70th birthday party of Sir Anthony Hopkins at the Margam Orangey. This event was attended by many famous personalities and was indeed a great honour for the choir.
